The Mike Wallace Interview: Aldous Huxley
The University of Texas at Austin, Harry Ransom Center, has taken on the task of putting many hours of film, from the mid to late fifties, of the early career of reporter/journalist Mike Wallace and the program, The Mike Wallace Interview. I found the one with Huxley to be exceptionally reflective from todays vantage point.

Absolut National Socialism
well… almost.
The LATimes has this “Special to the Times” article on all the hand-wringing and outrage over an advert, from one of the more well known Vodka producers in the world, where they use a nineteenth century map of north america as the backdrop for their market focused campaign and it turned out to be quite a ‘button pusher’, in more ways than one.
As the authors state; “As word of the campaign spread across the border, primarily via the Internet, some in the United States began giving the campaign a much more hostile reception.” What a shocking surprise. Who would imagine there would be a backlash coming from that of such a historically knowledgeable, well-educated and benevolent people. Ooops, wrong century. Hasn’t anyone in their marketing department been paying any attention to anything that’s been going on in the north american continent for at least the last ten years? Just because the lazzaronian media pumps out it’s bogus polling interpretations of what “the majority of americans think” or whatever it is that’s supposed to be the “presidential approval rating”, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t millions of neanderthal wartrogs just foaming at the mouth for a chance to show off their super-patriotism and lash out at the first thing that they think, however deluded it may be, is an affront to their almighty State.
According to a company spokesman, they have received numerous complaints over the ad that ran in Mexico for the last two months, and will not be aired in the U.S. “It’s based on a historical perspective on what Mexico was once. That’s all.“
One would think, what with all the knee-jerk over-reactionaries that inhabit this area of land, you would see an unusually high number of sales in the power chair market.

And wouldn’t you know,
leading the LATimes poll inserted into the article,
with a resounding 60+%, the winner is:
“The ad is an affront to Americans. I’m going to boycott the product.”
Might as well just reinstate the flag salute while you’re at it.
