“We wanted to find a slogan that represented the true spirit of the Internet,” said W3C spokesman Ian Jacobs. “The Internet allows for a free exchange of information and ideas.But even more often, it allows for flames retorts, and insult laden tirades at the slightest sign of any disagreement. That is the essence of what we wanted to capture with this slogan.”
